ACIES (Esperanza Civil Association) is a nongovernmental organization based in the impoverished Esperanza neighbourhood of Cajamarca, Peru. The association offers children and adults programs that help improve their quality of life and their levels of education through personal and community development. ACIES runs the Alternative Campesino School in the rural community of Pomobamba and the Quiritimayo Community Centre, which offers after-school and other programming in this underserved urban neighbourhood. Members of ACIES are volunteers—students and professionals from a range of disciplines as well as a growing number of community members.
