For a second year, Centro Santa Angela provided training to local officials aimed at challenging assumptions about gender roles and developing new concepts of masculinity and paternity that embrace relationships of equality and respect. The centre provided this training to a second cohort of 25 lieutenant governors in the districts of José Leonardo Ortiz and Mórrope.

program participants join in the march on International Women's Day with signs calling for an end to gender-based violence

Lieutenant governors, most of whom are men, represent the Ministry of Justice at the community level. They are key players in ensuring safety and security, promoting citizen engagement and connecting Peruvians with state services. Victims of gender-based violence often turn first to their local lieutenant governor, especially in rural areas.

Workshop topics included gender roles and stereotypes, the culture of violence, gender-based violence, responsible paternity, self-care, and male health. Centro Angela also helped connect these local officials to emerging grassroots leaders in their communities.
