Every year, a handful of Canadians embark on a transformative journey with Heart-Links. They leave their everyday lives behind to travel to northern Peru, not just as tourists but as participants in an inspiring exchange of culture, knowledge, and solidarity. This isn’t just a trip—it’s a life-changing experience where you’ll discover the depth of your potential to create positive change in the world.

Imagine this: You arrive in the lush Andes mountains of Cajamarca. The air is crisp, the landscape breathtaking, and the warmth of our partner-hosts envelops you. They welcome you into their lives, sharing the challenges and triumphs of their community and projects. For five days, you work side by side, learning about Indigenous culture and how local development programs are addressing social and environmental challenges. You leave Cajamarca not as a stranger but as part of something bigger.

Then, it’s off to the bustling city of Chiclayo. The colorful markets, lively streets, and warm hospitality will captivate you. Here, you’ll meet changemakers whose progressive projects are shaping the city’s future. You’ll witness their resilience, exchange stories, and gain new perspectives on urban challenges in Peru.

Finally, in Zaña, you’ll feel time slow down. This small town, with its rich history and serene valley, has been the heart of Heart-Links’ partnerships for over 20 years. Staying at a solidarity hostel, you’ll share meals and laughter with community members and contribute to projects that are deeply rooted in trust and collaboration.

This journey isn’t about sightseeing—it’s about seeing the world differently. It’s about understanding the interconnectedness of our lives and building relationships that transcend borders. Through dancing, shared meals, and heartfelt conversations, you’ll find yourself growing alongside the people you meet.
